Thai Red Curry Origins
Thai Red Curry, or “Gaeng Phet” in Thai, is a dish that dates back to the ancient flavors and culinary techniques of Thailand.
Hailing from the heartland of Thailand, this treat has been on a flavor adventure for centuries, adapting to local ingredients and tastes along the way.
While it’s tough to pinpoint the exact moment of its creation, historians reckon this delicacy dates back to the Ayutthaya dynasty, which spanned from 1351 to 1767. Back then, the kingdom was a melting pot of cultures and cuisines, with traders and migrants bringing their own unique flavors to the table, turning Thai cuisine into a delectable mishmash of tastes and textures.
Its name comes from the use of fresh red chilies, which give the curry its characteristic color and spiciness.
The secrets of its preparation
At My Way, we prepare our Thai Red Curry in the most authentic way possible:
Red curry paste
Made with dried chilies, aromatic herbs and carefully selected spices. This paste is the base of our curry.
Coconut milk
We cook the curry paste slowly with fresh coconut milk to achieve a creamy consistency and a harmonious blend of both mild and spicy flavors.
Asian vegetables
They add texture, color and a fresh touch, enriching the dishes with exotic and healthy flavors.
Chicken
In Thai cuisine, chicken is a great source of lean protein. It provides satiety and essential nutrients that promote good health.
Basmati rice
While jasmine rice is the most commonly used rice in Thai cooking, basmati is also used on occasion. Its distinct fragrance and long-grain texture bring a unique flavor to the dish.
