Types of Roasts
Light Roast
As the name suggests, it’s a mild roast that preserves the coffee's natural flavors. Ideal for those who enjoy the original nuances of the bean.
Medium Roast
A roast that adds sweetness to the bean thanks to the caramelization of its sugars. Its flavor may remind you of caramel or even chocolate, offering a sweet and balanced experience.
Dark Roast
In this roast, the essential oils of the bean are removed, giving it a smoky aroma that is sometimes mistaken for burnt. In Spain, there’s also the “torrefacto” roast, where sugar is added during the roasting process, creating a shiny and caramelized layer on the bean.
Coffee Producing Countries
Coffee was discovered in Ethiopia in the 11th century and eventually spread to tropical regions of Africa (Ethiopia, Uganda), Asia (Vietnam, Indonesia, India), and the Americas (Colombia, Honduras, Brazil). Depending on the country of origin, coffee can have different flavors and aromas:
- Colombian Coffee: Intense aroma and bitter flavor.
- Ethiopian Coffee: Delicate flavor with fruity notes.
Although Italy is not a coffee producer, it is a benchmark in the consumption of this beverage. Discover the best of Italian coffee.
